We the EcoMuseum are a public organization in Karaganda
Ecomuseum was established in 1995 and registered
as a public association in the Karaganda Administration
of Justice 15 May 1997.
Our Mission: Collection and dissemination of environmental and ecological information about Central Kazakhstan and to enhance the role of the public in solving urgent environmental problems as well as the further development of the democratic processes in society.
Objectives of EcoMuseum:
• Increase the environmental awareness of the public and government agencies.
• Involve the population and the state in active conservation work.
• Develop cooperation between the state and the public in order to address environmental issues and sustainable development of Kazakhstan.
• Explore critical environmental problems, by collecting information and conducting environmental studies (radiological studies on the effects of nuclear testing and studies of river pollution).
• Introduce environmentally efficient technologies (construction of biogas plants).
• Involve the population and the state in active conservation work.
• Develop cooperation between the state and the public in order to address environmental issues and sustainable development of Kazakhstan.

Information influence "EcoMuseum on going public in several ways: direct work with the public through the media and the Internet, through the deputies of local and national level and the organization of state environmental control, as well as through partner NGOs.
Our Methods
We work directly with the public. We put on exhibitions; visitor access to information databases is entirely open to the open to the public. EcoMuseum, actively seeks volunteers (and could not exist without them). We conduct ecological and sociological surveys. We publish leaflets, booklets, and posters. Since 1997, we have held dozens of exhibitions in educational institutions, governmental agencies,( including Parliament), and in private organizations throughout Kazakhstan and abroad (Japan, Germany, the Netherlands). We have been visited by over 40.000 people and been the location for numerous thematic expositions. Beginning in 2001 under contract with TU Tsentrkaznedra (MEIMR, Karaganda) we created a 550 sq.m permanent, interactive ecological museum on the premises.
We also reach out to the public through the media. On average EcoMuseum appears in 50-80 publications and is featured in 20-35 stories on the television and radio.
We work through the education system by organizing lectures and excursions for students. We organize environmental summer camps for children in the country and exhibitions in universities and schools. We love to assist students who are writing term papers and theses.
We work with the executive and the elected authorities by advising on environmental issues, and the preparation of parliamentary hearings. We lobby for environmentally effective and friendly solutions. We provide assistance and consult on environmental issues at the regional, municipal, and territorial levels for state departments and ministries (MoE, MoA, ASF, CSS, etc.). This includes seminars.
We work with NGOs and exchange information with community organizations in Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, the Netherlands, and Germany. We have and continue to provide materials for international conferences and seminars.
